Research Interests

My current interest is to evaluate impacts of marine stock enhancement on wild populations and statistical modeling for genetic monitoring. I have involved in Japan's marine stock enhancement programs since 1975 and dealt with various topics; evaluating the effect of hatchery-releases both on commercial and recreational fisheries, survival and growth estimation from tag recoveries, fish stock assessment, social research, morphological analyses and population genetics. These interdisciplinary studies are based on statistical inference. I heavily appreciate Hirohisa Kishino (University of Tokyo), Katuomi Hirano (Institute of Statistical Mathematics), and Yasushi Taga (University in the air), who introduced me to attractive fields of applied statistics. I also appreciate various experiences at Japan Sea-Farming Association and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology.
