Figure shows the change in corrosion potential over time for the SUS304 specimen which was spray coated with a titanium oxide. Measurements were performed in an artificial sea water solution.The corrosion potential considerably dropped after 4 days of immersion with a dummy radiation source.It seemed that the corrosion potential dropped because of shifting localized corrosion, resulting the passive film on the specimen was broken.
On the other hand, the corrosion potential steadied over 8 days with ⁶⁰Co γ-ray RI source. It seemed that the localized corrosion was inhibited by radiation irradiation.
