Laboratory members, 2014
The Laboratory of Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics is a laboratory of over fifteen full and part-time students, researchers, and staff under the supervision of Professor Hidekatsu Yamazaki and Assistant Professor Takeyoshi Nagai at the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT).
The lab is involved in research concerning the relationship between the physical ocean environment and ocean life.
The lab also holds seminars every Friday for its members and students to present their findings and research.
Through its projects and exchange programs, the lab maintains strong ties with other universities and institutions, such as the University of Victoria in Canada.
The Laboratory of Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics and its members are involved in several projects.
The Joint Environmental Data Integration System (JEDI-System) is a JST, CREST funded project directed by Professor Hidekatsu Yamazaki of the Laboratory of Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics.
Through this project, several laboratories and institutions, including our lab, are working towards characterizing multi-scale biodiversity dynamics in the Kuroshio affected habitats by utilizing observations captured with innovative technology and by using numerical models. These numerical models and field observations will then be combined to create a new planktonic ecosystem model.
