Vessels

The Yamazaki-Nagai Laboratory of Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics uses a variety of research vessels to conduct observations.

Some of the vessels which have enabled the Lab to conduct observations include the Seiyo-maru, the Umitaka-maru, the Hiyodori, the Kaiyo, the CCGS Vector, and the Hokku-maru.

The Seiyo-maru

The Seiyo-maruOpens in new window is a training and research vessel owned by the University of Marine Science and Technology. By using the Seiyo-maru, the Laboratory of Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics has conducted observations at Tokyo Bay, Sagami Bay, and areas around the Kuroshio Current.

The Umitaka-maru

The Umitaka-maruOpens in new window is a training and research vessel owned by the University of Marine Science and Technology. At 93 meters, the Umitaka-maru is the University’s longest ship and has allowed the Laboratory of Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics to conduct observations in far-flung oceans.
