Development of biotelemetry system and its application
  uDevelopment v
The existing biotelemetry system (Ultra-compact ultrasonic transmitter: a system that uses a pinger and receives the signal for the target) has many systems manufactured overseas and the specifications are unknown. Therefore, we are developing a biotelemetry system using new elements.
We are also promoting integration with biologging methods (micro-logger attached to organisms and collected).
Specifically, the following four can be mentioned.
1)Development of small size, long life, long reach pinger
2)Development of ultra-small data logger with intercommunication function
3)Multi-platform (ship and large marine organisms) compatible receiving system
3)Development of sonar response type transponder

  uApplicationv
We are researching not only the development of devices and systems but also their applications..
Specifically, the following four can be mentioned.
1)How to attach the pinger and the influence of underwater noise on the system
2)Behavior analysis of fish and fish school
3)3D monitoring of the shape and movement of fishing gear in water
4)Construction of sustainable production system of aquaculture in consideration of environmental protection by using advanced monitoring system (Smart Aqua-farming)

In order to achieve these, we are making efforts to measure comprehensive ocean environment data as much as possible using various observation instruments.

Application of ICT/IoT in fisheries and oceans
We are developing and applying systems using RFID (IC tags), satellite communications, and mobile phone networks with the aim of promoting smartization and DX in the fishery and marine fields.
  There are four specific implementations:
1)Advancement of Tokyo Bay conger eel fishery (GPS, RFID)
2)Traceability of tuna longline fishery (RFID, low earth orbit satellite, GPS)
3)Sophistication of Aomori scallop farming (ultrasonic telemetry, mobile phone network)
4)Remote fish finder using cloud system (mobile phone network, fish finder, cloud service)
