Students preparing for the university
The fishing industry is very important among Japanese industries. The fishing industry is important not only for people who make their living by it, but also for people who sell sea food at a retail store and so on and who are engaged in the food processing industry by using it as raw materials. In addition, apart from these economic terms, it plays a very important role in terms of a food supply for the people.
On the other hand, Japan's fishing industry is on a declining trend. There are various causes for this. It includes decreasing resources themselves. But one of the reasons is the effect from the presence of cheap imported sea food of the enough amount of quantity. In recent years, since the safety of imported fish and shellfish has been questioned, the status of domestic seafood has been improved. But actually, if you go shopping at a retail store and so on, you will see imported fish and shellfish at the fish and shellfish corner.
For sea food landed in the country to compete with this imported sea food, supplying it as seafood products would be effective as a temporary measure. In other words, the problem of the Lot will be solved by providing it as processed goods. Even if you cannot beat the price of imported seafood, we provide tasty processed sea food to the market easily and safely with the clear story about the process of the processed sea foods from landing to processing and to the consumer's mouth. It would finally provide greater traction to the development of domestic fishing industry.
And currently, we conduct a study on aquatic organisms of fisheries resources that cause environmental damage, on top of that, effective use of resources such as waste discharged from fish processing for environmental protection. Some people consider the fishing industry (≒fishery) as destroying the environment, but in fact, it is an industry that is integrated with the natural environment. The fishing industry cannot exist without the environmental protection of the sea. To do so, we need to protect it from the standpoint of Food Processing Science while taking the balance of an ecosystem into consideration. I digress from the subject, is there any meal you eat on the table made from real wildlife other than marine products? You may eat wild boar, deer and wild vegetables, but would it be less frequently? Most vegetables, grain, and livestock products and so on are improved and artificially-reared for use as food for human consumption. Certainly, there's farm-raised fish for marine products, but most food on the table (saury, horse mackerel, tuna, shrimp, and crab) is taken from wildlife as it is and we eat it. Therefore, you can see how important environmental protection is for the fishing industry.
From now on, we let you know in our own words about what the fisheries industry on the site and a management body of the fishery processing industry of small and medium-sized enterprises are looking for from Food Processing Science as a science. We hope to think about the matter together with you from the standpoint of Food Processing Science about what the best way is to live up to it or what we can do for human being to survive for a long time, and produce study results that can specifically contribute to the world.
