I am a phonetician who is interested in English communications not only between native and non-native English speakers but also among non-native English speakers having different mother tongues. I am a Maritime English instructor, as well. One of my current interests is examining the intelligibility levels that are expected of diverse groups of native Japanese speakers, who use English in different contexts and for different purposes, and apply my findings to pronunciation instruction.
