Research and development of energy consumption simulation for large vessels
■ Overview
We have developed a simulation to estimate energy consumption on the propulsion system and the electric system.
It is expected that various power systems can be compared in the same condition by using our simulation.

Study and optimization of energy storage system for saving fuel consumption
of ship's generators by self-made simulation using actual ship data
■ Overview
My research focuses on whether the installation of an energy storage system
using lithium-ion batteries in a ship's AC power system is effective in
reducing the fuel consumption of the ship's generators. We are also studying
what are the optimal power output and capacity of the energy storage system.
Based on data measured on actual vessels, I have created our own simulation
to reproduce the energy flow of the ship's power system.

My name is Norichika Nagayama, a first-year student in the Master's Course
in Marine System Engineering. After graduating from the Department of Marine
Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, I went on to Advanced Onboard Training
Course for Mercantile Marine(the Engineering Course) and entered graduate
school in October 2022. In extracurricular activities, I am a member of
the American football team at my alma mater (high school) as a student
coach. I look forward to working with you.

Introduction of battery system to diesel generator
■ Overview
I will verify the effect of reducing fuel consumption when introducing a battery system into the AC power supply system of a ship by simulation. By performing simulations under various conditions, l will confirm the generality of the battery system.

Development of wireless power transfer system using superconducting coil
and copper coil for ships
■ Overview
Wireless power transfer that uses electromagnetic induction of coils to
supply power without electrical contacts is applied to ships. The power
transmission characteristics when a single high-temperature superconducting
coil is used for transfer coil and multiple copper coils are used for receiver
coil, are examined.

Analysis of voyage data of fishing vessels to determine optimal operating
points
■ Overview
Analyze voyage data of fishing vessels and examine the operation points of HUMP and HOLLOW, where wave-making resistance becomes large and small, respectively. Then, we will propose more efficient operation points with less resistance to the operators of fishing vessels.

Proposal for Fuel Consumption Reduction Operation of Shioji Maru Based
on CPP Characteristics
■ Overview
Reducing fuel consumption has been a longstanding issue for marine transport operators. In particular, coastal shipping and fisheries have been severely affected by the recent sharp rise in crude oil prices and the shift in trend from long-term yen appreciation to yen depreciation. The reduction of fuel consumption is therefore a major demand of the times. Based on this social phenomenon, this study focuses on methods to reduce fuel consumption in the Shioji Maru.

Development of simplified teacher data correction system~Development of
ship engine rotation speed estimation system~
■ Overview
According to the prior research, such a system has been already completed.
However, it is assumed to be used on the server AI and have some issues
about communications, running costs and responsibilities. In my research,
to develop a simplified model that can be used with edge AI is the goal.

Investigation of non-contact power transmission in underwater probes using
superconducting technology.
■ Overview
My study aims to investigate the feasibility of using superconducting technology
to achieve non-contact power supply for underwater probes. Specifically,
I will examine the performance of a coil installed on the power transmission
side, as well as a resonant capacitor connected in series on the receiving
coil side.

Improvement of Non-Isolated DC-AC Inverter Characteristics
■ Overview
In this study, I will revise the circuit configuration of the DC-AC inverter
and adopt a non-isolated design to reduce the number of components and
eliminate the need for transformers, thus making the circuit smaller. I
will measure the circuit's performance and evaluate improvements in power
conversion efficiency and cost.
