We will learn the electric machines including the generator, electric motor, and transformer which you can see in the machine room of large vessels. Not only theory, but physical phenomenon, priciple of operation, name of parts, materials, and applications are discussed.

This lecture is mandatory for the person who want to be ship engineering officer.

[Scope]
It's quite unique course to focus on the electric propulsion system for large vessels. There is no course or lecture which you can learn this topics out side of TUMSAT in Japan. Definitely only one. We will see the components of the power plant, sytem architecture, and control system. Not only technical issue but also various viewpoints will be discussed to figure out.
[Requirement]
This course is held for 4th grade students of bachelor course. Students are required that the credit of "electric machine" and "internal combustion machine" are already obtained before taking this course.

Electric Power Conversion

This lecture focuses on the power electronics technique, which is tecniquie to convertersion the electric power between direct current and alternative current. Then purpose and effect of appllying the power electornics technique is explained by treating not only home appliance but also industrial applications.
